Waterborne ENCOR® resins for Pressure Sensitive Adhesives (PSA)
Arkema provides waterborne ENCOR® acrylic and styrene-acrylic resins for pressure sensitive adhesives used in tapes, labels, graphics, and industrial assemblies. These polymers enable formulators to balance tack, peel, and shear, supporting both permanent and removable PSA systems across a wide range of substrates.
ENCOR® latexes offer high tack, fast wet grab, and strong adhesion to films, paper, metal, and flexible materials, with options delivering enhanced shear and creep resistance for demanding applications. As low-VOC and APEO-free technologies, they also support sustainability, regulatory compliance, and efficient converting processes.
Enhancing PSA performance through smart rheology
Arkema offers a full portfolio of rheology modifiers and specialty additives designed to help PSA formulators fine-tune viscosity, flow, film build, and application behavior across a wide range of coating and converting processes. The portfolio spans acrylic (ASE & HASE) and polyurethane (HEUR) thickener chemistries, enabling rheological profiles from Newtonian to pseudo-plastic, and supporting both tapes and labels as well as advanced PSA technology platforms. These additives improve storage stability, leveling, smoothness, thickness control, and viscosity under shear, ensuring consistent performance during gravure, reverse-roll, Meyer bar, and curtain coating operations. In addition, several grades are available as bio-based or mass-balanced options, enabling low-VOC and more sustainable water-borne PSA systems in line with evolving regulatory and brand-owner expectations.
COAPUR™ 3020 BB is a bio-based polyurethane thickener engineered for rotogravure applications. With 90% bio-based content, it enhances high-shear viscosity for more consistent vario-gravure performance. Its good water resistance, combined with excellent flow and leveling properties, supports superior print quality while advancing more sustainable formulations.
COAPUR™ 817 BB is a bio-based polyurethane thickener designed for curtain applications. With 93% bio-based content, it improves viscosity under medium to high shear conditions, enabling better control of deposit thickness. Its good water resistance and balanced rheology profile help ensure reproducible application and consistent coating performance while supporting more sustainable formulation choices.
