🔍 Find adhesives & sealants solutions
Coatings' solutions for assembly applications
Arkema offers complementary technologies that enable formulators to design high-performance assembly adhesives with the right balance of flexibility, strength, curing performance, and productivity. Our portfolio combines vinyl acrylic binders with tailored rheology control and advanced UV/LED/EB-curable systems, supporting faster processing, improved durability, and enhanced sustainability.
Radiation-curable adhesives from Sartomer
Sartomer’s radiation-curable adhesives cure instantly under UV or EB, enabling faster processing, precise positioning, and more efficient assembly. Solvent-free by design, they support low-VOC, more sustainable manufacturing while delivering strong, durable bonds on a wide range of substrates. Compatible with UV, UV-LED, excimer, and EB systems, they serve demanding applications such as:
- Laminating adhesives
- Liquid optical clear adhesives (LOCA)
- Pressure sensitive adhesives (PSA)
- Electrically conductive adhesives (ECA)
- Hot melt adhesives
- Cyanoacrylate instant adhesives
The power of Sartomer® acrylates and methacrylates in adhesive formulations
Acrylates and methacrylates are both commonly used in adhesives and sealants formulations, but there are specific scenarios where one may be preferred over the other based on their properties and characteristics.
Acrylic binders for high-performance sealants
Arkema provides a broad range of acrylic, styrene-acrylic, and vinyl-acrylic emulsions designed to meet the demanding performance requirements of flooring adhesives, including applications for carpet, ceramic tile, LVT, wood, and vinyl membranes. Flooring adhesives require polymers that can accommodate movement, withstand point loads, maintain dimensional stability, and remain compatible with substrates ranging from concrete and gypsum-based underlays to wood and synthetic flooring materials.
Across the portfolio, Arkema resins enable:
- Cold flexibility for low-temperature installation
- Alkali resistance for use over cementitious substrates
- Improved binding capability for ceramic tiles
- Durability & creep performance under mechanical load
- Compatibility with plasticized components and flexible membranes
- Ease of application via trowel or roller systems
Arkema additives for assembly
Arkema offers a range of rheology modifiers and dispersants that enable formulators to control viscosity, flow, and application behavior in assembly adhesives, with minimal impact on adhesion, curing, and mechanical performance. The portfolio includes ASE, HASE, HEUR, polyamide, and castor-based chemistries, with options supporting low-VOC, solvent-free, and bio-based formulations aligned with sustainability trends.
Arkema additives enable multiple formulation benefits, including:
- Thickness control (high shear / mid shear rheology)
- Slump & sag resistance
- Gunnability & extrudability
- Smoothness / stiffness tuning
- Dimensional stability (metered application)
- Viscosity stability over time
- Control of transfer & wetting on substrate
These attributes are essential for adhesives applied via notched trowel, metering equipment, or extrusion guns, and for bonding substrates with variable rigidity (plastics, wood, composites, metals…).
Structural adhesives
Optimize the performance of your structural adhesive with the use of our comprehensive portfolio of acrylate, methacrylate and additive solutions:
- UV-cured adhesives: for fast and controlled curing, high bonding strength and compatibility with various substrates
- Two component acrylic adhesives: for high impact resistance, environmental durability and good bonding strength
- Methacrylate adhesives: for high toughness and excellent chemical resistance. We offer low odor alternative solutions to MMA (Methyl Methacrylic Acid) based systems, trough our monomer range.
- Unsaturated Polyester Resins (UPR): methacrylate reactive diluents as styrene replacement for a better safety profile of the formulation.
- 2K epoxy/amine systems: For increased toughness and flexibility, increased substrate wetting, controlled curing and lower shrinkage.

FOCUS ON
Liquid optically clear adhesives (LOCA)
Liquid optically clear adhesives (LOCA) are primarily used in the electronics industry for bonding displays to touch panels or cover lenses. They play a crucial role in devices where the clarity of the adhesive is essential for the function and aesthetics of the device, such as smartphones, tablets and touchscreen devices. We offer a range of Sartomer® specialty monomers, oligomers, and dielectric resins for LOCA adhesive applications. These resins for UV and LED curing provide superior properties, including:
- Accelerate return to service
- Lower VOC, low odor
- Improved durability and flexibility performance
- High gloss retention
