An extensive line of solventborne resins
Our solventborne acrylic solutions deliver fast drying, excellent appearance, and strong durability, making them ideal for industrial and refinish coatings as well as high-performance traffic marking. Polyester and polyester polyol resins bring high mechanical strength, flexibility, and excellent adhesion, especially for metal and construction substrates. Epoxy and epoxy-modified systems ensure superior corrosion resistance for heavy-duty protective environments, while alkyd and polyamide technologies offer efficient drying, robust application properties, and enhanced value for architectural and industrial segments. Across all technologies, Arkema provides high-solids options that maintain high performance while supporting regulatory compliance and sustainability-driven formulation strategies.
Polyols
Arkema’s polyester polyols provide performance benefits when used in polyurethane composite, sealant and elastomeric formulations. Applications include window sealants, electronic components, rollers and belts, wheels for rollerblades and much more.
For sealants, polyurethanes made with polyester resin are typically tough and waterproof. In elastomeric applications, polyurethane made with polyester resin exhibits excellent durability, abrasion, chemical and oil resistance properties.
Our standard polyester polyols are based on different types of acids and glycols. They are mainly used in “2K systems” combined with isocyanates like MDI and/or TDI to make polyurethane. Other uses are in combination with melamines, acrylates, epoxy, etc. MEG, BDO, and MEG/BDO based polyester polyols are commonly used.

Reactive polyamides
Reactive polyamides are lower-molecular-weight products from the condensation of dimer acid and one of the higher ethyleneamines known as diethylenetriamine (DETA), triethylenetetramine (TETA). Their mid-molecule amine groups provide reactive sites for cross-linking interactions with epoxy resin molecules.
We offer a range of reactive polyamides for use as curing agents in epoxy-based industrial coatings. They offer improved flexibility, excellent corrosion resistance and color stability. After curing, coatings made with these products can exhibit good bonding properties, mechanical strength and chemical resistance.
Active in markets: Industrial and protective & marine coatings
Our brand: CRAYAMID®
Thermoplastic polyamides
Thermoplastic polyamides have a molecular weight in the 2,000-15,000 range and are produced by the reaction of dimer acid diamines such as ethylenediamine.
Our thermoplastic polyamides are ideal for use in flexographic and rotogravure printing inks as well as hotmelt adhesives. They present good adherence to substrates, high gloss, solubility in solvents, pigment wetting, flexibility and block resistance.

Towards high-solids paints
High-solids technologies are becoming essential as coating producers work to reduce environmental impact and enhance worker safety. By drastically lowering VOC emissions, they limit solvent exposure, support safer application environments, and improve the overall sustainability profile of solventborne systems.
High-solids resins also deliver strong operational advantages: higher coverage, lower paint consumption, and the ability to achieve thicker, high-performance films with fewer coats and faster processing.
Developing these systems, however, requires substantial resin redesign. Achieving high solids often involves lowering molecular weight, increasing functionality, using specialty monomers, and adapting processing methods—changes that can affect viscosity, ease of application, and drying behavior due to reduced solvent content.
To address these challenges, Arkema pairs its high-solids acrylic and polyester resins with a dedicated portfolio of rheology additives engineered for precise viscosity control, optimized flow, and stable application performance. This combination enables formulators to unlock the sustainability benefits of high-solids coatings while maintaining the film quality, efficiency, and durability expected in demanding markets.
Arkema provides a wide range of acrylic polyol binder solutions for General Industrial and Protective and Marine Coatings. From standard 2K polyurethane (PU) to waterborne PU & non-isocyanate (NISO) systems, discover how Arkema is committed to offering safer products.
