Sartomer® specialty methacrylate monomers and oligomers

SNAP® 2709
SNAP® 2709 is a low MFFT acrylic emulsion with a morphology specifically designed to allow an excellent film formation. It is particularly adapted to the formulation of trim enamels for exterior and interior applications. SNAP® 2709 is formulated without alkylphenolethoxylates or formaldehyde. SNAP® 2709 has been developed to be used as binder for both interior and exterior trim enamels. Its specific & controlled structure ensures a stable minimum film formation temperature as well as a very good film formation with no coalescing agent even at low temperatures. In terms of film properties, SNAP® 2709 allows to get a coating exhibiting a good compromise of flexibility and hardness and a very good block resistance. The final properties of the coating are achieved extremely rapidly (within 24 hours of drying) and are stable with time as no coalescing agent (VOC or non VOC) is used. SNAP® 2709 is a binder of choice for durable exterior coatings.
SNAP® 720

SPA8000 NS
SPA 8000 NS has been developed for UV/EB-cured laminating. SPA 8000 NS imparts excellent adhesion, flexibility, and water resistance to laminating adhesive formulations - especially those for plastic film.

SPEEDBLOCK DP74
SpeedBlock DP74 is a fluorescent whitening agent, with excellent stability in low pH systems, for use in ink and coating applications. SpeedBlock DP74 is used in warm white and pastel tones where the degree of whiteness of the paint/ink needs intensifying. SpeedBlock 74 will mask the yellow self colour of some formulations and will increase the deep tone of blue/black inks. SpeedBlock 74 is recommended for use at concentrations between 0.02 - 5.0%. The actual use level chosen depends on the particular application and end user requirements.

SpeedCure VLT also acts as an effective sensitizer for diaryliodonium type cationic photoinitiators and can therefore be used to promote cure of cationic formulations with visible light.

SYNAQUA® 2070 is a medium oil alkyd emulsion designed for use in decorative paints. SYNAQUA® 2070 has been developed primarily for use in interior undercoats formulations. Additionally the mechanical characteristics and durability are also comparable. SYNAQUA® 3510 SW 80 is suitable to formulate high gloss, flexible finish coatings with less than 5% VOC. Favourably such paints can safely be worked on all commonly used modern coating equipment. SYNAQUA® 3510 SW 80 is particularly recommended for use in high gloss 2-pack-coatings for industrial application. It is also suitable for primers and single coat paints. The high durability and long pot life give the opportunity for coating large vehicles. Even for wood coating these characteristics can be exploited using corresponding formulations.

It is equally suitable for interior and exterior application. Although coatings based on SYNOLAC® 3133 X 74 show good air-dry performance they can also be force-dried. The hybrid structure of SYNOLAC® 3133 X 74 results in improved hardening rate compared with conventional alkyd based coatings especially during the early stages after application when this is such an important feature.

SYNOLAC® 3315 BA 70 is a vegetable fatty acids modified polyester resin with resistance to chemical agents, high flexibility and adherence to the surface. Their hydroxyl groups are very reactive and react very fast with the NCO groups at room temperature. SYNOLAC® 435 BA 70
SYNOLAC® 435 BA 70 is a semi-drying, medium-oil alkyd for nitrocellulose combination varnishes, acid curing paints and 2 K-polyurethane systems for wood coatings. SYNOLAC® 435 BA 70 is particularly recommended for use in nitrocellulose varnishes with comparatively good film build for industrial furniture finishing. SYNOLAC® 435 BA 70 provides an excellent plasticizing effect for nitrocellulose. In relevant formulations it achieves high gloss levels and a good balance of flexibility and hardness allowing the formulation of varnishes with increased levels of alkyd resin and thus improved film build. In acid curing systems SYNOLAC® 435 BA 70 shows a good reactivity and provides a good flexibility even at low temperatures. Stoving systems based on SYNOLAC® 435 BA 70 also maintain a good balance of hardness and flexibility and show a good gloss retention in exterior applications.
SYNOLAC® 463 X 60
SYNOLAC® 463 X 60 is a short oil epoxy ester used in air drying and stoving primers and finishes for a wide variety of applications. SYNOLAC® 463 X 60 is particularly suitable for use in air drying primers where good anticorrosive properties are essential and in automobile stoving primers where high performance in terms of adhesion and chemical resistance are desirable. The use of 5% - 15% of melamine resin on total resin content will give an increased rate of cure in stoving systems. The excellent resistance of SYNOLAC® 463 X 60 to acids and alcalis can be used to advantage in air drying and stoving finishes for application by spraying. Bronze finishing is one typical air drying application and paints for bicycle frames are typical of the use made of the resin in stoving finishes.
